Bessie E. Fortenberry, entered into Heaven on March 28, 2015. Born Bessie Pearl Edwards, May 16, 1926, in Ackerman, MS, she was predeceased by her husband, Thurman Malcolm Fortenberry, her parents Joseph Jackson Edwards and Lydia Daphene Lee Edwards. She is survived by her daughters, R. Sue Fortenberry Cavanaugh (William) of Charleston , SC and Sandy R. Fortenberry Sams of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Lisa R. Beyer (Robert) of Antioch, IL, Dana R. Wasley (Eric, Sr.), Oviedo, FL, Todd R. Arnold (Amy), Gotha, FL, William C. Arnold, II (Tammy), Ladson, SC, Joseph P. Arnold (Jamie), and...

She is survived by her daughters, R. Sue Fortenberry Cavanaugh (William) of Charleston , SC and Sandy R. Fortenberry Sams of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Lisa R. Beyer (Robert) of Antioch, IL, Dana R. Wasley (Eric, Sr.), Oviedo, FL, Todd R. Arnold (Amy), Gotha, FL, William C. Arnold, II (Tammy), Ladson, SC, Joseph P. Arnold (Jamie), and foster grandson, C. Kevin Price ( Angela), Goose Creek, SC, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter, and one sister, Mildred Edwards Chapman, Clinton, MS numerous nieces and nephews. The family gives thanks for the special friendship of Mary Bugnacki and Judy Murken, who were constantly present during her latest illness. Her memory and legacy will be carried on by all who loved her.

An avid gardener and cake baker, select members of Bessie's last employer, the Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell Law Firm knew they were extra special in her heart when she brought a birthday cake for them. Bessie also worked at GC Murphy variety store in the 1960's and 1970's, and Piezo Technologies, where her co-workers also benefited from her baking skills at covered dish lunches and birthday celebrations.

Visitation will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:30 pm, with a service at 2:30 pm, with internment to follow next to her beloved husband in the Garden of Wisdom-Section O at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
